About the Organization
The Experiment Foundation is dedicated to democratizing science funding and supporting innovative research projects. We provide small, fast grants to empower early-career scientists and those working outside well-supported academic institutions. Our mission is to make science more inclusive and dynamic, driving progress and discovery.
We operate as a lean, fast, and mission-driven foundation. Our model is distinct from traditional grantmaking. We deploy fast, targeted microgrants through the Experiment.com platform (the Experiment Foundation is a separate entity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with separate governance), working with Science Angels—expert partners who identify and support researchers in their domains and fund projects.
We are entering an exciting phase of growth with the launch of a new program, and we are hiring a Science Program Manager to own and drive this work. This role oversees program coordination, grant operations, and researcher relationships, starting in fall 2026.
About the Role
This is an operations and relationship role reporting directly to the Executive Director and will play a crucial role in managing the Foundation's grant programs and fostering a vibrant and engaged research community. The ideal candidate manages compliance and documentation alongside close 1:1 relationships with Science Angels and grantees. Our processes are lean and evolving — that will energize the right person.
The new program launches in fall 2026 and represents a significant expansion of our model: a structured, cohort-based experience for Science Angels who are building scientific communities and funding pipelines in emerging research areas.
Application Process:
To apply, please complete this form, where you will submit your resume and answer a few brief questions detailing your relevant experience and interest in the position.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in program operations, grants management, research administration, fellowships, accelerators, or related fields.
A track record of owning complex programs end-to-end—not just supporting them.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management across multiple organizations, particularly with researchers, funders, or knowledge-domain experts.
Comfort managing compliance requirements, grant documentation, and payment workflows with precision.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent, clear, and professional written and verbal communication skills- across all stakeholder types.
Proficiency in Google Docs, Slack, CRMs, grant management software, or community management platforms.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Passion for scientific research and innovation, and for building and maintaining an engaged community.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note: this role is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
Comfort in a small, fast-moving, remote team where you will build as much as you will execute.
Experience with science funding, university research administration, fiscal sponsorship, or accelerator-style programs.
Familiarity with Gusto, Notion, DocuSign, Stripe, or Experiment.com.
Experience managing cohort-based programs or fellowship tracks.
Experience building SOPs, dashboards, and lightweight automation to support program scale.
